How much does Class A concrete cost per cubic yard on TDOT projects?
Checked 2026-11-04
On Tennessee DOT contracts awarded in 2025, the statewide average price of Class A concrete ranged from $704.72 to $2,260.71 per cubic yard. Where the concrete goes drives most of that spread: leveling concrete sits at the bottom and pipe endwalls at the top.
The figures come from TDOT's report "Average Unit Prices, 01JAN2025 thru 31DEC2025, Awarded Contracts". Omnicost loads that report, and we checked these rows against the original PDF on November 4, 2026.

How to read these numbers
These are average awarded unit prices for in-place pay items. A contractor's bid for "Class A concrete (bridges)" covers the concrete plus forming, placing, finishing and curing, along with overhead and profit. That is why they sit far above a ready-mix delivery price.
Quantity changes the picture. The two pay items with the most volume, bridges (8,686 cy) and box bridges (7,175 cy), average $1,205.83 and $916.45. Items awarded in small quantities, like 604-03.07 with 34 cy, can carry much higher unit prices.
Using them to check an estimate
- Match the pay item, not just the material. Leveling concrete and bridge concrete are different work.
- Compare quantities. If your job has far less volume than the statewide total, expect a higher unit price.
- Cite the report and the item number when you use a figure, for example "TDOT 2025 AUP, item 604-03.01, statewide".
