What is the Omnicost MCP server URL?

What you need

An Omnicost account with an API key on the Free or Pro plan. The free key includes 10,000 requests per month and 200 requests per minute. Search is limited to 60 requests per minute for every caller (Omnicost Terms, section 8).

Connect it

Claude (claude.ai or desktop). Open settings, go to connectors, add a custom connector and paste https://omnicost.com/api/mcp. Claude opens the Omnicost sign-in page, where you approve the catalog:read and catalog:search scopes.

ChatGPT. In settings, open the apps or connectors section and create a new one with the same URL. Choose OAuth as the authentication method. Depending on your plan, you may need to turn on developer mode first.

Clients without OAuth can send an organization API key in the Authorization: Bearer header.

The four tools

Tool	What it does
search_catalog	Free-text search over materials, labor and equipment. Returns the best matches with median price and vendor count. Optional region: ES, US, EU or AR.
get_item	One item by its ci_ id: vendors, prices with source and date, and price history.
list_categories	The catalog categories with their parent category.
get_decomposition	Cost breakdown of an item into material, labor and equipment components with quantities and unit prices.

All four are marked read-only in the server's tool list.
